Christmas Day Brunch Menu

Hi All,
It’s a Holly Jolly Christmas here at Royal Tart. We have Christmas weather (cold and rainy) and lots of Christmas Cheer. The Christmas Trees are decorated and a Christmas Day Brunch Menu has been set. We are ready to celebrate and party!
for our Christmas Day Brunch we are going to serve Chicken and Waffles. That’s right Fried Chicken, Waffles & Real Maple Syrup (see recipe below), Deviled Eggs, some sort of fruit salad (haven’t decided exactly which yet), Fresh OJ, Mimosas and Champagne of course. And even though it is brunch and we don’t need a dessert I am going to set out a gingerbread bundt cake with chocolate sauce and fresh whip cream.
My Favorite Waffle Recipe:
Makes 10-12 six inch waffles
This recipe may be doubled or tripled
1 3/4 Cups all-purpose flour
1 TBSP baking powder
1 TBSP sugar
½ tsp. salt
3 beaten eggs
8 TBSP of melted butter (unsalted butter preferably)
1 ½ Cups whole milk
Preheat your waffle iron. In a large bowl whisk together your dry ingredients (the first 4 ingredients on the above list). In another bowl whisk together the wet ingredients. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the wet ingredients. Mix them together until lightly mixed. The batter should look a bit lumpy. Unless you want to add in a personalized ingredient or one from below you are now ready to spoon the batter into the waffle iron. Spread the batter evenly to the edge of the grids. Close the lid and cook the waffle until it is golden brown or the waffle iron’s timer beeps. Pop the waffles into the oven directly on a shelf in a single layer or serve immediately.
Additional ingredients:
You might want to personalize your waffles with. Raisins, fresh berries or other fruit, chocolate chips for sweet waffles and either grated cheese or chopped pre cooked bacon for a more savory waffle. About ½ Cup of any of the above will provide a good ratio to the above batter.
Now, the big decision are we hosting the brunch in our living room decorated in a beautiful winter wonderland theme (see image above) or in our family room with our traditional Christmas tree and such?
Cheers,
Tricia
Christmas Table Decorations
Christmas is coming the goose is getting fat…”
And while my goose isn’t cooked yet I need to get my merry on…if you are like me you are wondering how you are going to set the table for your Christmas Parties, Feasts and Celebrations…and yes, I do still wonder what my Christmas table decorations will be. Like many of you I just finished decorating and now its time to get busy planning the Christmas Dinner, Brunch and Open House. I haven’t even begun to finalize a menu or for that matter know how many guests I will actually host at any given party. Here are some images of a few Celebrations and their centerpieces that Royal Tart recently designed for a Holiday Charity Luncheon. I hope you enjoy the images and that they inspire you.

Cheers,
Tricia
Grinch Christmas Party
Hey! Don’t let the Grinch steal Christmas throw a party instead. Here’s a holiday party theme for those of you still looking for something fun to do this Christmas. This party theme works great for families and adults only–your pick as you like.

Invitations:
Invite friends, family & neighbors over to celebrate Christmas in Grinch Style. Send a green invitation or send the book with the invitation inserted inside. If you are inviting lots of people or want to cut invitation costs how about cutting pages from the book (I know for some of us this is terribly difficult to do–I have the “do not deface a book” concept ingrained in my brain forever) and affixing the invitation to the page. Super witty!
Oh and how about asking your guests to wear all green (acid green?) or to dress like the Whos in Whosville? Again a witty and festive way to celebrate Christmas.
Setting the Scene:
Decorate using all the green dishes, ornaments, linens, decorations, etc you can find. Use acid green or any and all greens shades. If you are purchasing some new items I have seen some really funky Seuss like Christmas trees at the boutiques. I bought one because it was just silly! You can also incorporate other Seussish decorations–how about a bowl of brightly colored ornaments in a top hat?

For Adults: Include funky martini glasses–Royal Tart has some great ones– check out the Get Your Merry On Celebration. I would of course serve an acid green martini–I know appletinis have been DONE but the apple pucker stuff that one uses for the “easy” appletini is the perfect color for a Grinch Party. What about green Jell-O shots–again I know we have BEEN THERE but if there ever was a party (aside from a college party) that was perfect for green Jell-O shots it would be a Grinch Christmas Party.
Menu Suggestions:
Serve green food. Some chunky guacamole with some green chips; I just saw some green chips at the grocery store–check out your gourmet or regular grocery. How about pesto? Pesto can be used in an appetizer–like pesto crostini or served over pasts as a main dish, add a green salad and you just made dinner in the Grinch style.
You can let your imagination run wild. Of course you could also ask your guests to bring a green appetizer, main dish or dessert and you would only need to use your imagination for the decorations.
Party Games/Entertainment:
How about a contest for the best Grinch look-alike or sound-alike? What about watching the original animated version and then doing your own show or creating Grinch Charades? You can of course also show all of the Grinch movies and TV specials in the background or invite people over to watch your favorite Grinch movie or show.
Party Favors:
I love party favors because they are the final thought to a well planned party and they say “thank you for coming.” How about a little package of green M&Ms? Or Green Favor boxes filled with green jelly beans or green jelly Christmas trees? Green foiled chocolate balls? You get the idea.
We hope you have a great Grinch Party and if you do send us a picture–we will post it for others to see.
Merry Grinchy Christmas,
Tricia
