The perfect Monster Bash Cocktail: Alien Secretion

Eeeewwhhhh! This Halloween serve up an Alien Secretion as your signature cocktail. The name has the perfect ick factor, the color is very slimy-green and the cocktail itself is sublime–what a perfectly horrific combination!

Alien Secretion Recipe:
1 jigger Malibu rum
1 jigger Midori
½ a jigger pineapple juice
½ a jigger sprite

Mix ingredients in shaker with ice, pour into shot glasses.

Make a toast to all your ghouls…

Easy Bloody Fang Halloween Snack

We had a den of Tiger Scouts over on Tuesday night for some Halloween party fun. We served scary Halloween Foods. I will post our menu later but today I wanted to share a super fast seasonal recipe—bloody vampire fangs.

First pick up some apples, peel them and then slice them–no biggie really easy. Squeeze a little lime so the apple slices stay vampire fang white. My one challenge, what oh, what can I use for blood? I had heard strawberry puree or preserves. I had thought maybe Jell-o. But then I spied this super scary looking stuff in the pudding/Jell-o isle–Very Cherry Jelly Belly Pudding Snacks–actually at our store it was packaged as Kroger/Ralph’s ready to eat Very Cherry Pudding. The pudding has the perfect viscosity and color of blood. Perfect for Halloween.

As I was dumping the bloody goo into a serving dish I realized it carried the Jelly Belly brand name… Regardless of your thoughts on fake cherry pudding sold in small plastic cups for the price of 4 cups for $1.00 this stuff is the perfect color and viscosity of blood.

We used it on several of our bloody treats. Check it out…it works as the perfect eerie food decoration.

Cheers,

Tricia

Easy & Inexpensive Vintage Halloween Party

Today in my inbox I received a Country Living Entertaining Email. The subject line read, “Host a Vintage Halloween Party.” I was so excited to see this email for a number of reasons: 1) it validates Royal Tart’s own choice in our Trick-or-Treat Party —clearly we are on trend; 2) it is always interesting to see all the different ways ideas are executed; 3) our vintage inspired Halloween party is so inexpensive and easy– a Country Living/Bruce Elsass vintage Halloween party would take you an incredible amount of time, energy and lots of money and if you have those three things as well as inclination you would be able to host a fabulous party with Bruce Elsass’ great ideas. On the other hand, Royal Tart will provide you with a inexpensive vintage Halloween party including vintage-like invitations, decorations, a handmade Halloween banner, table setting, etc. and it will arrive at your door in one box for a mere $177.00 including shipping for a party up to 16– You cant’ beat that! And Royal Tart includes a Let’s Get This Party Started Blueprint with a suggested menu, recipes and party tips with the purchase of your party.

I hope you enjoy our vintage Halloween offering. When we designed our Trick-or-Treat Party our inspiration was the fantasy of entering our eccentric aunt’s attic, digging through her boxes and trunks until we found all the treasures that complete our vintage feel party. We think the inspiration was the perfect way to create such a timeless party.

Cheers,

Tricia

When is the “Witching Hour?”

In European folklore, the witching hour is the time when supernatural creatures such as witches, demons and ghosts are thought to be at their most powerful, and black magic at its most effective. This hour is typically midnight, and the term may now be used to refer to midnight, or any late hour, even without having the associated superstitious beliefs. The term “witching hour” can also refer to the period from midnight to 3 am, while “devils hour” refers to the time around 3 am.

So host a witching hour party. Make it as fun or as creepy as you like. Royal Tart has helped you out with The Witching Hour Party, complete with witches cauldron, skull mugs, eerie decorations and spellbinding invitations.

Cheers,

Tricia

Halloween Drink Recipe: WITCHES’ SPELL FOR CLAIRVOYANCE

After a few mugs of this brew you will divine it all…

Witches Brew Cauldron & Mugs

Witches' Brew Cauldron & Mugs

WITCHES’ SPELL FOR CLAIRVOYANCE:

Into a fiery cauldron of boiling water (2 quarts of water to be exact), add two handfuls of clotted dirt (2 cups of brown sugar), a scoop of worm innards (1/2 cup of butter), a grain of sand from an hour glass (pinch of salt), three branches from the river Styx (3 cinnamon sticks) and a handful of bat eyes (6 whole cloves). Cover the cauldron with a lid; simmer for 666 seconds or more. Lift the lid of the cauldron and deeply inhale the vapors of the bubbling brew three times. Take a normal breath of air, and then once again deeply inhale the vapors three times. Add a jug of wart juice (2 cups rum); cover the cauldron with the lid. Lift the lid of the cauldron and deeply inhale the vapors of the toxic bubbling brew three more times. Take a normal breath of air, and then once again deeply inhale the vapors three times. Ladle the Witch’s brew between several skulls (scoop the brains from the skulls before filling). On top of the brew slick a scoop of bug larvae (sweetened whipped cream) whilst chanting, “Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and caldron bubble.” Add a grind of lizard bone (nutmeg). Toast your fellow witches and warlocks; Drink deeply the bubbling brew three times. Take a breath of air, and then once again drink three times. Repeat this for three skulls-full, and if you have allowed yourself to properly enter a psychic state, you may begin to receive prophetic visions…

Royal Tart Halloween Review & Giveaway

Do you remember the pre-Trick-or-Treat dinner? My mom always made little pizzas. They were a big hit as pizza wasn’t quite as easy to come by back then. After our healthful dinner (read: no sugar lots of tummy filling carbs and protein) we were off with our pillow cases to trick-or-treat, as an adult I have found that I prefer a magic elixir as one of my Halloween traditions–in a Halloween mug, of course. Actually, in our home it is a harvest tradition. We drink it at Halloween, Thanksgiving and any and many Sunday afternoons. You can check out the recipe at Fractured Toy. They published Royal Tart’s Witches Brew for Clairvoyance (read: Hot Buttered Rum Recipe).

Fractured Toy also provided a great review. Thanks so much. We love it–and it is always so nice to hear what families do to celebrate. Royal Tart loves celebrations, rituals & traditions whether they occur around a holiday or just because– that’s why we started this business after all. Thanks again!

Royal Tart is giving away two (2) skull mugs through the Fractured Toy Blog. The review is bone chilling in a good sort of way.

Thank you to Fractured Toy. If you would like a chance to win the skull mugs head over to Fractured Toy and enter.

Cheers,

Tricia

A Halloween Magic Potion For The Small Ones

Whilst the wicked wind blows this Halloween season create a special spell for your small ones. On any given afternoon, but especially on October 13, invite your favorite boys and ghouls over for a warm potion. Begin your potion for small ones with the below spell (recipe).

skull-mugs.jpg

To a magic cauldron add the juice from four rotten apples (4 cups cran-apple juice) and a storm cloud. Stoke the fire and add a canister of alien secretion (two cups orange juice); inhale deeply. Magic the small ones to your side (holler at them to come into the kitchen) and instruct them to inhale deeply three times. After inhaling, the small ones shall add six bat eyes (six whole cloves); a small branch from the River Styx (one cinnamon stick) and three dried spiders (three allspice berries or a ½ tsp allspice). Give the potion a monster mash. Simmer gently while singing “strange brew [stills] what’s inside of you” seven times (Who knew Eric Clapton created such a divine spell?). Add a sprinkling of sand from the shores of the River Styx (sugar to taste—one to two tablespoons); give the cauldron a final stir. Dash the fire and serve in ghoulish glasses. With one last incantation, add to the ghoulish glasses two dragons’ eyes (Maraschino cherries) and serve to your little ghosts and goblins.

Cheers,

Tricia
